In a recently approved planning application, Errigal Bay stated that the loading on its existing facility has reduced over the years because of decreased demand for seafood. The company plans to enter the plant-based sector to protect its current employees and create more job opportunities. The new facility will also support local farmers by using oats grown in the nearby Finn Valley and rapeseed oil sourced from within Donegal.
The facility will produce byproducts that will be used for consumer foods, health products, and animal feed.
